ABOUT THE STUDIO | EST. 2022

A Photographic Publishing Studio

Wayne Ford Studio is an independent photographic publishing studio where an ongoing photography practice is given physical form through print and publication.

The Studio publishes photography as physical objects: archival editions, pairings, small print sets, posters, zines and publications, created to be collected, lived with and returned to over time.

THE PHOTOGRAPHY PRACTICE

The photography practice comes first.

The work begins with curiosity, observation and intuition. Often that means walking without a particular photograph in mind, wandering through unfamiliar places, or simply paying attention to what might otherwise go unnoticed.

A shift in light, an unexpected relationship between color and form, a passing moment, or something ordinary seen differently can become the starting point. The practice is less about searching for a specific image than remaining open to what presents itself.

Over time, these observations become photographs, and the photographs become the raw material of the Studio.

FROM OBSERVATION TO OBJECT

A photograph is only the beginning.

One body of work. Different forms.

Some photographs become individual Photographic Editions. Others become more interesting in conversation with another photograph, in sequence, or as part of a publication.

The Studio gives the work different physical forms through photography prints, Pairings, Small Print Sets, Posters and Publications. The format changes, but each begins with the same photography practice.

WAYNE FORD

A photographer based in Los Angeles.

Wayne Ford is a Los Angeles based photographer whose work explores cities, places and the overlooked details of everyday life.

His personal photography is rooted in walking and observation, responding to color, architecture, light, geometry and the unexpected relationships that emerge when moving through a place without a particular photograph in mind.

Alongside his personal work, Ford has spent more than two decades working professionally in photography, with a practice spanning architecture, interiors, hospitality, real estate and editorial assignments.

Wayne Ford Studio brings these experiences together, creating a home for his ongoing photography practice and the prints and publications that grow from it.

THE ONGOING CYCLE

The work continues.

Every photograph, print and publication is part of an ongoing process of looking, creating and returning to the field. Collecting the work helps make more time for travel, new photographs and future publications. It’s what keeps the practice moving forward.
